Aniqa is a Senior Lecturer in Teacher Education and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education academy. She has 22yrs experience in teaching, 17 years of which have been in the field of teacher education.
She is a member and reviewer for the Chartered College of Teaching, a speaker for BAMEed and editorial board member of Patterns of Practice, an international journal of scholarship of teaching and learning. Aniqa is a keen writer, and a Muslim woman of colour in STEM.
Aniqa’s current research interests are in women in leadership, trauma informed practice, educational effectiveness and improvement, the importance of pastoral support in HE, and raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
She uses poetry and storytelling to challenge the stigma surrounding life trauma, mental health and seeking therapy in the South Asian community and uses her writing to share her journey in academia, a career in STEM, motherhood after infertility, and raising a daughter with congenital heart disease.
